Biography

Justin Berry is an artist whose work spans several mediums and conceptual frameworks. Much of his current practice deals with the way that various fictions affect our notion of truth. In order to make sense of the world we tend to see it through various frameworks, such as language, that fascillitate our ability to function in a social world but that also mediate our concept of reality. Berry has begun to invent fictional contexts for the objects that he makes, using as a base both a novel that he wrote called the 'Book of Names' and an imaginary online art gallery. By telling lies that admit themselves he is attempting to evaluate the potential for truth in a world dominated by television ads, photoshopped magazines, and sensationalized news stories.

A recent graduate of The School of the Art Institute of Chicago's MFA program he now resides in New York, NY.

While in Chicago he co-directed Alogon Gallery, running a highly successful program of curating curators.
